PFLUGERVILLE, Texas — The Pflugerville Fire Department on Friday afternoon sent out a statement explaining why EMS was called out to the Austin bomber’s house about 4:01 p.m. on March 20, hours before he blew himself up.

Travis County Emergency Services District No 2 Fire Chief Ron Moellenberg released the following statement:

“On March, 20, 2018, at 16:01 hours, the Department received an electronic dispatch from Austin-Travis County EMS for an “unknown medical assist.” Squad 211, a Unit with 2 paramedics, responded at 16:02 hours.

The Unit arrived at 16:05 hours. One paramedic knocked on the front door and inquired if someone had called for EMS. The person who answered the door replied that no one called, and that was affirmed by an unseen person elsewhere in the in the interior of the house. The paramedics then left the house and the Squad returned to service at 16:11 hours.

It was later learned that this house was involved in a law enforcement investigation. Travis County Emergency Services District No. 2/Pflugerville Fire Department is not a part of that investigation and has no other information relative to it. Any requests for additional information need to be directed to involved law enforcement agencies.”

It is unclear if Mark Anthony Conditt or one of his roommates answered the door.

A little after 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, Conditt drove his vehicle into a ditch on the 1700 block of the North Interstate 35 Frontage Road in Round Rock where he detonated a bomb he had with him inside his vehicle, according to Interim Chief Brian Manley.
