SAN ANTONIO – Nearly 100 couples joined together at the stroke of midnight on Valentine’s Day to say “I do.”

The annual Alamo City tradition offers free mass wedding ceremonies on the steps of the Bexar County Courthouse on Feb. 14.

County Clerk Gerald Rickhoff is offering a total of five free ceremonies to all couples on Valentine's Day.

Ceremony times: 

  • 12:01 a.m.
  • 10 a.m.
  • 12 p.m.
  • 2 p.m.
  • 4 p.m.

While the ceremony is free, couples will have to obtain their marriage license at least 72 hours before the wedding. Exceptions will be made for members of the U.S. Armed Forces, couples who have gone through premarital education courses approved by the state, or any other good reason the judge deems acceptable.

Couples can get marriage licenses from the Bexar County Clerk’s Office at 101 W Nueva St. Licenses are $81, cash only. Couples must bring proof of their identity in addition to their social security number.
