AUSTIN, Texas - Officials confirmed a Department of Public Safety vehicle and school bus were involved in a three-vehicle collision Monday afternoon.

The crash happened at 4:46 p.m. at the intersection of Springdale Road and E. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard when the DPS vehicle rear ended a SUV while turning left on Springdale Road. The DPS vehicle then hit a KIPP Austin school bus that was stopped at the intersention. 

At least 39 children were on the bus at the time of the crash. Three children had minor injuries and were taken to Dell Children's Medical Hospital, according to a DPS official. 

The SUV driver had minor injuries but was treated at the scene of the crash. 

The trooper, a man in his 40s, was also transported to the hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. 

DPS is currently investigating the crash.
