Round Rock police on Sunday discovered a woman’s body in a home, and now an intense search is underway for two missing children.
Officers on Sunday responded to a request for a welfare check at a home located in the 2600 block of Leslie Court. There they found the body of an adult woman, Tonya Bates, age 44.
Police are now looking for 7-year-old Luluvioletta Mariposa Bandera-Magret and 14-year-old Lilianais Victoria Cake Griffith. Both are associated with a person of interest in the case. An Amber Alert has been issued.
That person of interest was identified by police as 44-year-old Terry Allen Miles. He is described as 6 feet 2 inches tall and 200 pounds. He wears glasses and may have a beard.
A lieutenant at the Calcisieu Parish Sheriff’s Office in Louisiana has confirmed with Spectrum News that Miles has an extensive criminal history with their department.
According to court records, Miles has seven charges related to domestic violence, a charge for child pornography, one for burglary, DWI and battery, and a couple of undisclosed felony charges. Law enforcement could not confirm with us about any convictions at this time.
Luluvioletta Mariposa Bandera-Magret is approximately 4 feet 5 inches tall and 75 pounds with curly brown hair. Lilianais Victoria Cake Griffith is about 5 feet tall and 100 pounds. She has brown hair, braces and a nose stud in the right nostril.
It’s believed Miles may be headed to Louisiana in a grey 2017 Hyundai Accent bearing Texas license plate number JGH9845. The car has a hatchback with a white sticker in the right-hand corner of the rear window.
Neighbors said the people who live in the Round Rock home had not been there long and mostly kept their distance
"They never came outside. If they did they got in their car and they were gone," neighbor James Reid said.
"I never got to interact with them, them being my neighbors. It seems like they were settling in and keeping to themselves," said Antonia Quilantang, another neighbor. "I honestly am concerned for the girls because I remember seeing two little girls, and I hope that they're safe and OK. You never thought something like this would happen, and they're right next door to you."
Other neighbors said they hadn't seen the residents since Christmas. They also said Sunday was not the first time police checked on the residents at the house. Meanwhile, neighbors are keeping their children close.
"Just take care of your kids. Be there for them. Let them know that you do care, that you're around," Reid said. "Let them know what they should do if something does come up."
People were urged not to approach Miles. Instead, call the Round Rock Police Department at 512-218-5500 or dial 911.
