GREENSBORO, N.C. – Time is running out to mail your packages as Christmas is just days away.

The United States Postal Service says the final cut off is this Friday for packages to arrive by Christmas Day.

However, they recommend not procrastinating and getting deliveries in sooner because Friday is the most expensive delivery option – Priority Mail Express.

Today is the first class mailing deadline. The last day for Priority Mail service is Wednesday.

Between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day, the postal service expects to deliver more than 15 billion pieces of mail, including 850 million packages. That’s a 10 percent increase over last holiday season.

UPS expects to deliver more than 750 million packages globally in the 25-day period -- up 5 percent from last year.

FedEx estimates it will deliver up to 400 million packages as well.
