Police: Woman Died Before Car Caught Fire in North Austin

AUSTIN — Police are investigating what they are calling a suspicious death after a car caught fire in Northwest Austin.

Authorities found a woman's body in a burning car shortly after 1 a.m. on Shepard Mountain Cove near Loop 360, located southwest of 22-22 and Loop 360.

Police believe the victim might have died before the car caught fire. The medical examiner and arson investigators were both called out to the scene.

Authorities are still waiting on more information to release a cause of death.
