The Spotify House at South by Southwest plans to donate its sound equipment to the music production program at Kealing Middle School once the festival ends this Saturday.

Kealing Middle school will use the equipment to make three state-of-the-art recording studios, as well as couches and tables for a listening room.

Kealing Middle School Music Teacher Aragorn Eissler is teaching his students how to mix and master their own music.

“Music is moving. It used to be violins and pianos, etc.; nowadays music is made by these electronic instruments. That’s what the kids are interested in,” said Eissler.

The donations are worth an estimated $50,000.

“We’d have to do an awful lot of dances to get that type of equipment,” said Eissler.

While the students have been enjoying Spring break this past week, crews have been hard at work installing the new equipment for the recording rooms, which will be ready to go when the kids return to class on Monday.

The Spotify House is also donating the building's raw elements, like wood, to AISD's performing arts center to build sets and stages for theater.
