On Wednesday, Randalls delivered turkeys to the Capital Area Food Bank, providing 1,000 Central Texas families with a Thanksgiving turkey this year.

The turkeys were divvied up between three of the food bank's partner agencies.

One is Shepherd's Heart, which operates a food pantry in Taylor, Texas.

"Well, these turkeys mean a lot," said Hank Perret, Capital Area Food Bank President and CEO. "You know, it gets to this time of year and there are a lot of families who wouldn't otherwise have a turkey to put on their table. So, this is a big deal to get these turkeys."

Randalls' turkey donation is a 13-year-long tradition, and this year, the birds are going to more than one place.

"Love of Christ in Temple, Shepherd's Heart in Taylor and Heaven's Harvest here in Austin," said Perret.

The donation couldn't have come at a more perfect time for Shepherd's Heart.

"We've had a lot of destruction," said Loretta Masters, Shepherd's Heart Executive Director. "We had a flood on Memorial Day in Taylor and there have been a lot of people that have really needed some resources."

The agency said that even at such a great time of need, those it serves have acted selflessly.

"We have seen some who we knew needed help and said they'll give it to a neighbor that's worse off than they are," said Masters. "So, that's refreshing."

If you'd like to help a family out this Thanksgiving, you can always drop a frozen turkey off at the Capital Area Food Bank during business hours.
