Dell Children's Medical Center dedicated a helipad in honor of fallen STAR Flight nurse Kristin McLain Wednesday.

Last month, the community mourned the loss of McLain after she died during a rescue at the greenbelt. The 46-year fell while trying to hoist a patient from the greenbelt up to a STAR Flight helicopter.

Members of McLain's family were on hand to unveil the helipad's remembrance plaque.

"As a member of our family and again as one of our heroes, we thought that it was important to put up a symbol of her in terms of renaming the helipad after her and sharing the story of that continually so that we will remember that,” Mark Chen with Dell Children's Medical Center said.

Hospital officials say McLain was special to them because she worked closely with nurses and doctors. She worked to fly babies from area hospitals to Dell Children's.
