GREENSBORO -- LeBauer Park's splash pad is closed after parents reported their children's feet were being cut while playing in the area.
On Monday, Greensboro Downtown Parks officials were busy calling the manufacturer of the splash pad to start looking into solving the issue.
"While we have it shut down, we're going to address everything we can. We're going to leave no stone unturned and make sure that when we reopen it, it's after we have been convinced completely that it is a safe feature for the park," said Rob Overman, Greensboro Downtown Parks, Inc. executive director.
Park officials say as they continue to investigate what specific part cut the children's feet, this is a good time to remember some safety tips.
"We ask that parents help us out by keeping an extra eye on their child or any friends that they brought with them. We have park ambassadors in the park and one of their primary responsibilities is to ensure that everybody is following the rules," said Overman.
"The surfaces here are designed to be non-slip surfaces; however, there's always that possibility with running water you may need those water shoes both to prevent foot injuries as well as slipping," said Phil Fleischmann, City of Greensboro Community Recreation Services Division.
