ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The parolee accused of beating the owner of a Rochester liquor store to death with a wine bottle earlier this month pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Thursday.
Kevin Quander, 59, was arraigned on first-degree murder and robbery charges in the death of 46-year-old Charlotte Lahr.
Police say Quander entered the South Avenue Wine and Liquor Store on March 2 and robbed Lahr at knifepoint, then beat her to death.
Police say witness statements, store surveillance footage and fingerprints point to Quander, who had just been released from prison in January after serving a nine-year sentence for robbery.
Quander is being held at the Monroe County Jail without bail. He's set to stand trial in September.
