HENRIETTA, N.Y. -- Macy's Incorporated revealed Wednesday it will shut down its department store at the Marketplace Mall in Henrietta by spring, affecting dozens of jobs.

The Henrietta store has been up and running since 1982, according to the company. There are 77 employees at the store.

Macy's called it a cost-cutting measure, and said clearance sales at closing stores are expected to start next Monday. This follows the news that Marketplace itself would convert to an outlet mall later this year.

Mall owner Wilmorite released a comment saying: "While we cannot comment on the plans for the Macy's parcel, our ongoing efforts to transform the Marketplace into a super-regional outlet shopping destination will continue. It is fortunate that our efforts commenced well before this announcement."
