ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A Pinellas County registered sex offender is scheduled to appear before a judge Tuesday to respond to charges dating back to the mid 1990s.

Romeo Wilfred Desrosiers, 69, is accused of lewd and lascivious molestation of a child.
According to detectives, their investigation began in August 2019, after the victim notified deputies she was touched inappropriately when she was 7-8 years old by, 69-year-old Romeo Desrosiers, who was known to the victim.
Detectives say the victim who is now 31-years-old, confronted Desrosiers about the incidents. Desrosiers admitted to the victim that on multiple occasions he touched her over her clothes when she was a child.
Through various investigative techniques, detectives confirmed that Desrosiers had access to the victim during that time period at a residence in Pinellas County.

Detectives say Desrosiers is a registered sex offender who is monitored by the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office Sexual Predator and Offender Tracking Unit.
Desrosiers was required to register as a sex offender on May 28, 1997, after he was convicted for a similar lewd and lascivious act on a child.
Detectives arrested Desrosiers and transported him to the Pinellas County Jail. Desrosiers was charged with one count of lewd and lascivious molestation on child under 12.
