PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a crash involving a vehicle leaving the roadway in the Feather Sound area and striking two pedestrians on the adjacent sidewalk, killing one of them, according to the agency.

Investigators said the crash occurred around 5:02 p.m. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Gregory Gleason, 24, of Clearwater, reportedly failed to negotiate a turn while driving west on Feather Sound Drive.

Robert Parker was killed at the scene as a result of the crash, troopers said. Laurie Parker sustained minor injuries and was not hospitalized.

Gleason sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
