Alexis Jones joined the Bay News 9 team in September 2024. While originally from New York, Alexis now proudly calls Lakeland home. She attended Polk State College and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from the University of South Florida.

After graduating, Alexis embarked on her journalism career in Tupelo, MS during the height of the pandemic. She later moved to Louisville, KY, where she reported from the center of national stories, including severe weather and high-profile trials. Alexis also covered community events, protests, and stories of personal resilience and triumph.

These experiences have helped Alexis hone her skills as a journalist and build strong connections within diverse communities. As Spectrum News’s multimedia journalist focused on Polk County, she’s excited to bring her expertise to inform, inspire, and uplift the community she loves.
