Former Rep. Elizabeth Holtzman on Tuesday endorsed former New York City Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowly for Queens borough president.

The post was vacated by Melinda Katz after she won last year's election for Queens district attorney.

"I proudly endorse Elizabeth Crowley for Queens Borough President. Elizabeth knows that for too long Queens has been shortchanged of its fair share of services and funding," Holtzman said in a statement. "And as a former member of Congress and District Attorney, I know firsthand how important it is to have women in leadership positions to fight the tough battles."

Crowley is running in a March 24 special election, part of a crowded filed of candidates.

“Elizabeth Holtzman’s endorsement is incredibly meaningful and I am honored to receive her support in my race for Borough President,” Crowley said. “Elizabeth is a trailblazer for women all over the country."
