Gianella Ghiglino is excited to join the Spectrum News 1 team as a reporter in San Antonio.
Gianella was born in Peru and raised in the heart of the valley in Los Angeles. She earned her degree from Cal State Northridge in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Political Science.
Before coming to Texas, Gianella reported for KLCS-PBS and KYMA-TV at the U.S.-Mexico border in California. She covered topics ranging from the refugee crisis, the construction of border wall, and the COVID pandemic.
Gianella then moved to Houston where she worked as an MMJ at CW39 Houston.
Gianella’s favorite things about Texas are the food and the southern hospitality. In her spare time, you can find her paddleboarding with her pup Maya or writing poetry under the Texas sun (with mosquito spray of course).
