WILDWOOD, Mo.—The Metro West Fire Protection District brought in 50 goats to help them at station 3 in Wildwood.

These goats are part of Goats on the Go, a traveling eco-friendly vegetation removal service, and helped recycle the prairie restoration behind the fire department.

“Why goats? They’re safer than controlled burns, more affordable than heavy machinery, and a more environmentally conscious option than chemicals. Plus, they’re fun to watch!” said the MWFPD on their social media page.

The goats work to clear about an acre per week by munching their way through the undergrowth. That undergrowth needs to be removed every several years for the health of the prairie.
