OHIO — The 2025 applications for the Seniors Farmers Market Nutrition Program are open once more for eligible Ohioans age 60 and older so they can access $50 in fresh produce.
The program offers local fruits, vegetables, fresh cut herbs and unprocessed honey throughout the year through the Ohio Department of Aging.
“The Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program is a fantastic way for older Ohioans to get fresh produce from their communities while also helping Ohio farmers find new customers,” said ODA Director Ursel J. McElroy. “By providing additional methods for older Ohioans to get healthy food into their diets and make smart lifestyle choices, we are continuing our mission to make Ohio the best place to age in the nation.”
Eligible residents are 60-years-old or older and earn less than 185% of the federal poverty level. Residents must re-apply each year to receive the benefits.
ODA said residents will again have an opportunity to sign up for digital benefits which are redeemable with a smartphone app. Those who sign up for the program with an email address will receive a confirmation email and can use their $50 starting on May 15.
Physical membership cards are also available. For those who received physical cards last year, and remain eligible this year, those cards can be used in 2025 with $50 being loaded onto the card on May 15.
For those who misplaced their 2024 cards, did not receive a physical card last year or are signing up for the first time this year can have physical cards delivered. The cards may take between four to six weeks to be delivered.

Ohioans who live in Athens, Hocking, Meigs, Morgan, Monroe, Noble, Perry and Washington counties can still participate, but must go through the Buckeye Hills Regional Council. These county residents will receive the traditional coupons instead of having access to the app.
Applications close on Sept. 30, and all funds must be spent by Nov. 30. Residents who are re-approved are encouraged to keep their physical cards to use in 2026.
