Terminal 1 — formerly the Interisland Terminal — at the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport now has electronic displays showing the status of security checkpoints and estimated wait times, per the Hawaii Department of Transportation on Friday.

Displays will be added to Terminal 2 — formerly the Overseas Terminal — after improvements are completed at Checkpoint 3 that include new air conditioning, ceiling renovation and lighting. Improvements to Terminal 2 and Checkpoint 3 are expected to be completed in late 2025 since checkpoints will continue operating during construction.

The displays use Light Detection and Ranging technology. The total cost of the technology and communications infrastructure for the displays in Terminals 1 and 2 amounts to $6 million.
