The Hawaii Department of Health invites the public to a four-session webinar series discussing the basics of groundwater.

The series will be conducted by the DOH Hazard Evaluation and Emergency Response Office from 11:30 a.m. to noon June 6, 13, 20 and 27 via Microsoft Teams.

Each webinar will include a live Q&A with DOH scientists and cover topics such as aquifer systems, groundwater flow, contaminant transport and cleanup methods with the goal to deepen the public’s understanding of the science of groundwater and how much of a vital source of drinking water it is for island communities.

Topics for each webinar:

  • June 6: Groundwater and Its Importance as a Resource in Hawaii
  • June 13: Basics of Groundwater Flow
  • June 20: Contaminant Transport in Groundwater
  • June 27: Contaminant Plume and Aquifer Cleanup

No preregistration is required.
