The Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of State Parks announced additional closures for Diamond Head State Monument due to an ongoing project to stabilize loose rocks around the Kahala Tunnel.

The project began in January and is expected to be completed by July 25.

Closures are scheduled for June 17 through 20 and 24 through 27. No visitors will be allowed to enter the park during these days and guards will be stationed at the entry gate leading to the tunnel. Employees may enter through the Kapahulu Tunnel from 6 a.m. through 6 p.m.

In addition, on June 16 and 23, the park will continue with partial closures from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. On all other days in June, the park will close at 2 p.m. on weekdays and 6 p.m. on weekends. Visit the monument website for a full schedule of operating hours.
