TEXAS — The memorial to the 19 students and two teachers killed in the Robb Elementary School shooting in 2022 was vandalized Thursday.

Authorities in Uvalde are actively pursuing those responsible for the incident.

“This act is not only senseless, it is cruel, and it has inflicted more pain on families who have already endured unimaginable loss,” the Uvalde Police Department posted on Facebook.

The police department has yet to release information regarding the full extent of the damage.

“Robb Elementary is not just a location. It is a symbol of sorrow, resilience, and remembrance. To violate it is to violate the spirit of Uvalde itself,” the post added.

Crosses were placed outside of Robb Elementary School to honor the lives lost in the shooting. Although there’s been years of discussion about clearing it away, it continues to serve as a point of connection to those lost for many in Uvalde.
