There are approximately three weeks left in this year’s legislative session in Albany, so the pressure is on to get bills passed before lawmakers head home for the year.
Environmental advocates are specifically calling for the passage of two bills that would ban the sale of products containing PFAS, or so-called “forever” chemicals.
Many household items contain PFAS, including makeup, pots and pans, cleaning products, feminine hygiene products and much more.
Bobbi Wilding, the executive director of Clean+Healthy, an advocacy group focused on environmental health, joined NY1’s Bobby Cuza on “Inside City Hall” Friday to talk more about the legislation her group is advocating for.
“When New York takes action on bills like this, it actually changes the national marketplace,” Wilding said. “It’s not only going to protect New Yorkers, but it is going to change the game for people across the country.”
