ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester Interim Police Chief Cynthia Herriott-Sullivan says any departmental charges for the officers involved in Daniel Prude's death would happen after an internal investigation.

This comes after the Rochester City Council passed a resolution last week calling for immediate disciplinary action for those officers, up to and including termination.

Herriott-Sullivan says she expects any departmental charges to come in April.

She highlighted a timeline, with officers permitted at least 10 days to respond to any charges and then receiving formal charges.

Officers then must enter a guilty plea and, if pleading not guilty, will have to undergo a hearing.

After that, corporation council and attorneys have to submit briefs.

The process could take up to 30 days.

The hearing officer will also submit a brief to the chief of police after receiving documents from attorneys.

After, the chief of police will provide a summary within 30 days.
