James Douglas Meadows, 37, was located shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday, behind a distribution plant near the intersection of Lake Avenue at State Route 113 in Elyria. He was taken into custody without incident, the sheriff's office said.

The sheriff's office said Sheffield Village Police officers pulled over a car with Meadows inside over the weekend, and once they had realized there was a warrant, they attempted to arrest him. He had resisted arrest, and ran off with one of his hands still in the handcuffs, officials said.

Lorain County Sheriff Jack Hall said Meadows attempted to cause injury to the officers during his escape.

Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal Brian Fitzgibbon noted Meadows refused to cooperate with law enforcement, "put the pedal to the metal" and struck officers' vehicles with the one he was driving. Eventually, he ditched the vehicle and ran away on foot.

On Thursday, law enforcement had been searching in the area of Russia Road between SR 58 and Annis Road in rural Lorain County. A shelter in place order had been in effect for part of the day but was lifted during the afternoon.

No other information has been released as of Thursday evening.
