LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Business has stopped at 21st in Germantown after Louisville Metro Alcoholic Beverage Control issued an Emergency Suspension Order. The ABC said the business had serious violations involving underage drinking, over service and public safety.
According to the ABC on June 8 just after midnight, ABC detectives inspected the business to follow up on what it called “a pattern of previous violations.”
When detectives arrived at the Shelby Street bar, an on-site security guard was telling patrons ABC was at the business and, according to a news release, several young, apparently underage patrons left out of the back exits. Detectives detained three underage patrons who were drinking alcohol and according to the release, admitted they came to the bar from outside of Jefferson County because they believed they could get alcohol at 21st in Germantown.
The ABC issued the Emergency Suspension Order based on ongoing violations and “imminent risk to public safety.” 21st in Germantown won’t be able to do business or serve alcohol until further notice.
“Repeated disregard for the law and public safety demands a strong response,” said Director of Louisville Metro ABC, Brad Silveria. “Violations involving underage drinking and over service are taken very seriously. Establishments that serve alcohol are expected to operate responsibly, and when they don’t, we will take action.”
