ST. LOUIS —As St. Louis-area students begin summer break, local institutions are starting summer reading programs.

According to the National Center for Education Statistics, only 19% of St. Louis Public School students have proficient reading scores — drastically lower than the 45% statewide average.

STL Summer Adventure (St. Louis Public Library and St. Louis County Library)

  • Ages 17 and under 

  • Reading challenges, outdoor exploration and educational events
