Dozens of experts in artificial intelligence are urging Gov. Kathy Hochul and state lawmakers to support legislation that would put in place AI safeguards.

The legislation, if passed, would require that AI developers have a safety plan, have that plan audited by a third party, disclose critical safety incidents and protect employees that flag risks.

State Sen. Andrew Gounardes, whose Brooklyn district covers all or parts of Downtown Brooklyn, Carroll Gardens, Sunset Park and Bay Ridge; and state Assemblymember Alex Bores, whose district in Manhattan includes the neighborhoods of the Upper East Side, Midtown East and Murray Hill; joined NY1’s Bobby Cuza on “Inside City Hall” Friday to talk about the bill.
