PALM BAY, Fla. — Brevard County is now making changes at a busy intersection in Palm Bay to help curb crashes.

What You Need To Know

  • Sheridan Keber says drivers don't see the no right turn on red sign at Culver Drive and Palm Bay Road

  • Keber says it has led to crashes
  • Brevard County agreed to put up an extra no right turn on red sign

  • The new sign was installed last week

Sheridan Keber said drivers are a ignoring road sign and causing crashes.

"There have been numerous wrecks there. I couldn't count them, but I know that I've avoided them to come over on I-95," Keber said.

Many drivers on Culver Drive turning right to head onto eastbound Palm Bay Road are making a mistake, Keber said.

"The problem is there's only one sign, and it's up on a pole. It says, 'no right turn on red'," he said.

At the intersection, a small sign on the mast arm was the only sign that stated, "no right turn on red."

Keber said he doesn’t believe drivers are ignoring the sign; instead, he said he thinks drivers can't see it.

The Brevard County public works director said his team assessed the intersection and determined an additional sign is needed, to hopefully alert drivers they can’t make that right turn on red.

Just last week, the sign was installed on the right-hand side of northbound Culver Drive.
