OHIO — June 6-8 is Wear Orange Weekend, when communities across the U.S. are gathering and wearing orange at various events, working to stop gun violence and honoring survivors.
Events are occurring nationwide, including Ohio, throughout the month.
Here’s what Wear Orange-affiliated events are happening in the Buckeye State:
Wear Orange B-Eazy Day Celebration, in Columbus
This event hosted by Moms Demand Action takes place at 4:30 p.m. June 7 at Maloney Park, located at 1701 Joyce Ave. in Columbus. It will also feature food, entertainment, resources and more.
Wear Orange March to End Gun Violence, in Springfield
This event hosted by Moms Demand Action and the Fudge Foundation takes place at 6 p.m. on June 18 at Springfield City Hall. They recommend attendees bring signs and wear orange as they “march for Peace.”
Wear Orange Panel, in Akron
This event will feature six high school students speaking to their actual experiences with gun violence followed by small group discussions. It will be at 3:30 p.m. on June 8 at Temple Israel, located at 91 Springside Drive in Akron.
Wear Orange Survivor Walk, in Cleveland
This rally is meant to honor survivors, remember victims, acquire resources and “inspire healing” in the community. It is hosted by Cleveland Moms Demand Action, and will be at 10 a.m. on June 14 at Stop N Save, located at15637 Saint Clair Ave. in Cleveland.
Blood Drive to support survivors and victims of gun violence, in Cleveland
If you’re looking for actionable ways to help, consider donating blood at this drive in partnership with the American Red Cross. It takes place at 9 a.m. on June 28 at the Church of the Savior, located at 2537 Lee Road in Cleveland Heights.
Virtual Blood Drive
