North Carolina Governor Josh Stein recently made a trip to Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City to meet with host Stephen Colbert.
He told the South Carolina native and the rest of America that western North Carolina is back open for business, now eight months post Helene.
“Folks have stepped up to help each other, we have to step up just like they’ve helped each other,” Stein said to Colbert.
Colbert echoed the governor’s call, highlighting his favorite places to find leisure.
“Flat Rock, Hendersonville, Tryon, Asheville, all of it just a gorgeous part of (the state),” Colbert said. “The Green River, the French Broad. I love fishing up there. Everybody should go.”
The two also touched on political topics like Medicaid cuts under the Big, Beautiful Bill, potential FEMA cuts and the North Carolina budget.
