ATHENS, Ohio — Strouds Run State Park is taking a walk through nature to the next level with the introduction of an “audio tour experience.”
“The audio tour, created by Katherine G. Moore and Kathryn Nusa Logan, is called Homing and invites park visitors to listen to an audio guide (Spotify, Apple, and Amazon Music) with a smartphone while walking through three different areas of the park,” reads a release from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
Those three areas include the Bull Dog Shelter House, Blackhaw Trail as well as the beach. All you need to do is scan a QR code to bring up the audio.
“The goal is to immerse listeners in their surroundings combining calming sounds, instruction for movement, and history of the area,” the release reads.
There will be a group tour for this new feature at 5:30 p.m. on June 3 at the Bulldog Shelter House at the park. It will be rescheduled to June 4 in the event of rain.
You can register for the event here.
“Homing was created by Katherine G. Moore and Kathryn Nusa Logan in partnership with ODNR’s Arts in the Parks program, the Ohio Arts Council, the Greater Columbus Arts Council and Appalachian Understories: a Social Enterprise of Rural Action,” the release reads.
