AKRON, Ohio — Akron Public Schools praised the Akron Police Department and the FBI for their successful efforts “in preempting a bomb threat” Friday at North High School and Jennings Middle School.
The district, in a press release, said the FBI identified the threat on social media and law enforcement acted quickly. They said the person was “apprehended without incident.”
"We are incredibly grateful for the vigilance and rapid response of the FBI and the Akron Police Department," said Stacey Hodoh, Director of Communications for Akron Public Schools. "Their proactive monitoring and immediate action ensured the safety of our students and staff at North High School and Jennings Middle School. This incident highlights the critical importance of strong partnerships between our school district's Safety & Security team and local and federal law enforcement agencies."
The district said the investigation is ongoing, but they did also communicate directly with school parents about this situation.
