The Hawaii Community Development Authority will temporarily close the large dog area of Kolowalu Dog Park from May 12 through June 9 because of vandalism to the irrigation system affecting both the large and small dog sections of the park.

During the closure, work will also be done to rehabilitate the lawn, make additional repairs to the irrigation system and install paver stones at the high-traffic entrance area. Pavers will also be installed in other areas and places where dog digging occurs.

The park recently opened on Feb. 8, 2025, designed with Hawaiian cultural elements inspired by Kakaako’s historic past.
