WAUKESHA, Wis. — Waukesha Ald. Cory Payne has been arrested for stalking, according to the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department.

Payne was booked into the Waukesha County Jail following an initial investigation on Monday, Feb. 17. He represents Waukesha’s 15th District. 

According to the sheriff’s department, it comes after a former girlfriend of Payne reported he had been “harassing her for several weeks.” The report also claims he knew her whereabouts and he would not stop contacting her.

Payne’s term started in April, 2022. Since that time, this is now his second run-in with the law.

In his first incident, he was accused of slapping an elementary school-aged child on the leg in 2023. Payne received a two-year probation sentence from the judge; one year for misdemeanor battery and one for disorderly conduct. 

The sheriff's department said this is an ongoing investigation.
