ALTADENA, Calif. — In the months since the devastating Los Angeles area fires ripped through neighborhoods, Glendale resident Shaadee Ighanian, has been collecting and distributing quilt donations to those impacted.
When the fire hit, Ighanian wanted to do something to help others.
She first made a quilt for her friend’s daughter after their family lost their home in the fire.
The magic that she says comes with a handmade gift got her thinking.
Knowing she couldn’t possibly make enough quilts for everyone impacted, she tapped into her quilt community online.
Before she knew it, hundreds of people from across the state and country were reaching out, sending in quilts they had made or had been in their families for years. Each quilt tells a story, not just of loss but of solidarity.
Anyone who would like to donate can reach out to Ighanian through her Instagram account to coordinate.
