ORLANDO, Fla. — Two in five Americans believe in ghosts and one in five say they’ve encountered one, according to a YouGov survey.

So, are there ghosts living in Central Florida?

American Ghost Adventures creator Ting Rappa believes there are ghosts throughout many Central Florida locations.

She says ghosts appear both in daytime and nighttime.

“They’re dead. So, time is of no essence to them anymore. So, you can see something in the morning, evening, or you know in the middle of the day,” said Rappa.

Rappa has been searching for ghosts for more than 20 years, as she has been leading guests into the world of the paranormal.

Her goal on her tours is to demonstrate there’s something else out there.

All her guides come equipped with a variety of electronic gadgets and they encourage guests to try them out for themselves.

On the tour, depending on the location, guests will be asked to place items like flashlights where the spirits can respond by turning them on and off.

A favorite tour location is the Greenwood Cemetery in Orlando.

“We’re going to put a flashlight next to it when you find the Easter egg. Turn the flashlight on for me,” Rappa tells a small group standing in the children’s section of the cemetery.

Capturing ghosts on camera takes luck and patience.

One flashlight randomly turned on while Spectrum News was in the graveyard with guests.

“And as you can see, only this flashlight has turned on, notifying us that there is some kind of communication from the other side,” said Rappa.

Tour locations include walking through downtown Orlando, Mt. Dora, Sanford and DeLand in known areas of the paranormal.

Guide Rob Hansen says abandoned buildings are a favorite for uncovering ghosts.

“Just about every building that I’ve gone into, I have multiple interactions and so much activity,” said Hansen.

American Ghost Adventures offers a variety of ghost tours to the public.
