Last year's Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony saw "Hacks" become the surprise winner over "The Bear" for best comedy series.

This year, it's another wide-open race, and that extends to the performance categories.

In a new episode of "The Envelope Roundtables," comedic actors Kate Hudson ("Running Point"), David Alan Grier ("St. Denis Medical"), Lisa Ann Walter ("Abbott Elementary"), Nathan Lane ("Mid-Century Modern"), Bridget Everett ("Somebody Somewhere") and Paul W. Downs ("Hacks") open up about their awards-caliber series.

One of the most talked-about shows from this past year is "Running Point" on Netflix. Hudson discussed her lead role and its real-life inspiration: Los Angeles Lakers President Jeanie Buss.

"I definitely didn't want to let Jeanie Buss down," Hudson said during the roundtable. "That being said, she's got a great sense of humor. She's married to a comedian, Jay Mohr, so she loves very inappropriate comedy."
