GREENVILLE, S.C. — The city of Greenville unveiled plans Monday to break ground on a project in 2025 that could change the city’s skyline.
On Dec. 19, the city’s Design Review Board unanimously approved landscaping plans for the 29-story development at 250 North Church St., inching the Gateway project closer to reality.
Once completed, the building could become the tallest in South Carolina.
According to city officials, the development represents an estimated $130 million investment that will operate as a multi-use space:
- 342 apartments
- 12,000 square feet for up to five commercial and retail businesses
- Public plazas
- Parking area for more than 350 vehicles
The structure will sit at the former site of the Greenville Memorial Auditorium, a lot that has sat vacant since the auditorium’s demolition in 1997.
A groundbreaking is projected for some time in 2025.
