Brett Shipp joined Spectrum News 1 in July of 2020.

Shipp is one of the most decorated journalists in the country, having earned three George Foster Peabody Awards, three Columbia University duPont Batons, several Edward R Murrows, and multiple Emmys.

The most impactful story he has ever covered was 9/11. The morning of the attack Shipp and two co-workers drove straight to New York City and spent the next 8 days covering the aftermath and the emotions of the horrific attack.

When Shipp isn’t reporting he is usually spending time with his family, watching a Dallas sports game, or inventing something in the kitchen.

This Texas native says his last meal would either be at Matt’s El Rancho or the Salt Lick BBQ outside Austin.
