SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office announced two locations where local residents can donate blood to help victims in El Paso.

At least 20 people were killed and over two dozen were injured when a 21-year-old man opened fire at a shopping complex Saturday morning.

Most of the victims were shot at a Walmart near the Cielo Vista Mall, El Paso police Sgt. Robert Gomez said at a news conference. He said the store was packed with as many as 3,000 people during the busy back-to-school shopping season.

The two blood donation locations will be open Sunday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • South Texas Blood and Tissue Center – Donor Pavilion, 6211 IH 10 West, 78211
  • South Texas Blood and Tissue Center – North East Donor Room, 8500 Village Drive Suite #102, 78211

There will also be a vigil held Sunday night in front of San Fernando Cathedral downtown. It will occur between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.

The City of San Antonio is also sending comfort dogs to El Paso from Methodist Facility Services Team.
