The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says an episode of alleged sex trafficking was averted in Henrietta after deputies apprehended two men linked to the alleged kidnapping of a woman from a hotel.
According to investigators, the victim and two men were recorded by a surveillance camera in the lobby of the Microtel on Lehigh Station Road. The video shows a woman being pulled away by one alleged abductor, police say.
The video led deputies to Shuntiayana Sims and Cordell Brooks, both of Rochester. The two men have both been charged with kidnapping and assault, according to authorities.
The victim was not from the local area, police say. She was found nine hours later and is recovering from her injuries. Investigators say Sims and Brooks were prostituting her.
"So this is what sex trafficking is ... what abduction is ... what kidnapping is. That's that video," said Investigator Sgt. David Bolton. "It's not a victimless crime in any way."
Sims and Brooks remain in county jail, the sheriff's office says.
