Matt Jarchow joined the Spectrum News team in January 2014 as a videojournalist in our North Country newsroom in Potsdam. While there, Matt was on the front line of our station’s award-winning coverage of the abduction of two Amish girls in St. Lawrence County. After that, Matt spent several months in our Corning/Elmira Newsroom before joining our Syracuse-based reporting team in the Fall of 2015.
Matt received his B.S. in broadcast news from Kent State's School of Journalism and Mass Communication in December 2013. In his time at Kent State, Matt filled a variety of roles for TV2, the College Media Association's student-run station-of-the-year in both 2012 and 2013.
Matt covered President Barack Obama's campaign visit to Kent State, He won a Hearst award for his story on athletic concussion reporting at Ohio high schools. Matt also spent time interning at WISN-TV in his hometown of Milwaukee.
