DALLAS — The Dallas Cowboys have a lot of veterans and rookies vying for open positions out at training camp in Oxnard, California.

One of the more obvious positions with a starter is tight end, after Jason Witten retired during the off-season.

Former Longhorn Geoff Swaim is one of the guys, along with Baylor basketball player Rico Gathers, competing for the spot.

Going into his fourth year on an extremely young Cowboys team, Swaim has earned himself veteran status. During the off-season he's worked on stepping up his leadership skills, using lessons learned at Texas and from advice doled out by Witten
