FORT BRAGG, N.C. --There were lots of smiles. And some tears too.

  • 150 soldiers with the 659th Support Maintenance Company came home Sunday after a nine month deployment
  • After Sunday's homecoming ceremony, the soldiers were given Monday off
  • They will have a week of re-integration training, which is designed to help make the transition from being deployed to being back at home

That's because about 150 soldiers with the 659th Support Maintenance Company came home Sunday after a nine month deployment. The men and women of this company operated 15 separate locations in four different countries.

At Sunday's homecoming, one of the soldiers was especially excited. It's understandable. You see, he was about to see his five-month old son for the very first time.

"I got butterflies in my stomach right now. I can't wait to see him, how much he looks like his father. I can't wait to see my wife as well," said Specialist Jose Hernandez.

Minutes later, Specialist Hernandez was holding his son Eli and also hugging his wife.

After Sunday's homecoming ceremony, the soldiers were given Monday off. After that, they will have a week of re-integration training, which is designed to help make the transition from being deployed to being back at home.

Following that, the soldiers of the 659th are getting three-weeks of leave time. That can be used for family vacations or just relaxing at home.
