NATIONWIDE — A recall for a brand of baby spinach is sparking concerns about dozens of prepared food items sold by Whole Foods Market.

  • Satur Farms spinach sold at stores and used in food prep
  • Recall is for possible salmonella contamination
  • Whole Foods used the spinach in dozens of products

Satur Farms issued a recall earlier this week for baby spinach and mesclun because of potential salmonella contamination, after routine sampling done by the Florida Department of Agriculture.

In response, Whole Foods recalled more than 50 prepared food items that have the spinach or mesclun in them. The products include salads, pizza, sandwiches, and wraps.

Some of the items were sold up north exclusively, but more than half were sold in Florida. They all have "sell by" dates between January 24 through January 28, with items such as eggplant rollatini, bistro pasta salad, and spinach artichoke bleu pizza.

A complete list of items is available on the FDA website. The list includes the name of the product, the "sell by" date, and the product code.

If you purchased any of these items, bring your receipt into the stores for a refund.

In addition to food service sales, the affected Satur Farms Baby Spinach products were also in plastic clamshell containers for customer purchase, in 5 oz., 10 oz., and 16 oz. containers.

There have been no reports of illness.

If you have any of this spinach, you can return it to your place of purchase for a refund.
