AUSTIN, Texas -- The fight over vaccinating kids in Texas is now impacting child care.

• Texas law mandates vaccine requirements for licensed child care centers.
• Private child care facilities have rejected kids that were not vaccinated.

Texans for Vaccine Choice said they have received hundreds of calls and emails from parents that private child care facilities rejected kids not vaccinated. Texas law mandates vaccine requirements for licensed child care centers. However, Texans for Vaccine Choice point to a state statute saying facilities can forgo vaccine requirements if parents have a medical or conscience exemption. That does not mean they have to though.

At this point, it is unclear whether or not the group plans to push for new legislation in their favor.
