Recek QB Rankings

Week Three

1 – Julon Williams – Judson (Senior)

Last Week: Passing 6-9, 268 yards 5 TD’s. Rushing 68 yards 2 TD’s

2017 Season: Passing 28-43, 669 yards 8 TD’s. Rushing 431 yards 8 TD’s.

Williams completed 6 passes last week, 5 of them went for a TD. The overall impact he has for Judson in the passing and running game has earned him the top spot by himself.

Previous Rank: T1

2- Matthew Baldwin – Lake Travis (Senior)

Last Week: Passing 13-22, 302 yards 4 TD’s.

2017 Season: Passing 68-112, 1,069 yards 12 TD’s. Rushing 60 yards 1 TD.

Baldwin had his 3rd straight game throwing for over 300 yards. While the Lake Travis defense is still figuring some things out, Baldwin has carried the offense to back to back wins.

Previous Rank: 3

3- Zadock Dinkelmann – Somerset (Senior)

Last Week: Passing 4-10, 86 yards 1 TD.

2017 Season: Passing 26-49, 540 yards 5 TD’s.

Dinkelmann leaves the top spot for the first time this year and does so not because I believe he’s playing poorly, he’s just not asked to do as much and has less production compared to the guys in front of him.

Previous Rank: T1

4 - Roel Sanchez - O’Connor (Senior)

Last Week: Passing 13-21, 184 yards 2 TD’s.  Rushing 108 3 TD’s.

2017 Season: Passing 35-57, 575 yards 9 TD’s. Rushing 296 yards 6 TD’s.

Despite some early turnovers, Sanchez recovered and led O’Connor to a statement win over Steele. Anyone that accounts for 5 TD’s against the Knights defense deserves a move up in the rankings.

Previous Rank: 6

5- Chase Griffin - Hutto (Junior)

Last Week: Passing 26-39, 356 yards 2 TD’s. Rushing 39 yards

2017 Season: Passing 60-95, 861 yards 8 TD’s. Rushing 8 yards.

I almost moved Griffin into a tie for 4th, because he also led his team to a statement win, as Hutto beat Georgetown. A gutsy performance by the junior leading his team on a last minute game winning drive.

Previous Rank: 5

6- Davis Brin - Champion (Senior)

Last Week: Passing 13-30, 172 yards 3 TD’s. Rushing 46 yards.

2017 Season: Passing 58-105, 671 yards 8 TD’s. Rushing 87 yards.

I know that Davis Brin is a good quarterback and he’s not playing poorly by any means, but he drops two spots this week mainly because other guys have gotten off to better starts this season.

7 - Mak Sexton - Cedar Park (Senior)

Last Week: Passing 26-29, 284 yards 4 TD’s.

2017 Season: Passing 73-97, 721 8 TD’s.

Sexton was near perfect last week against Bastrop. That’s two straight games the senior for Cedar Park has been great.

8- Tyler Vitt - MacArthur (Senior)

Last Week: Passing 21-26, 158 yards 1 TD. Rushing 237 yards 4 TD’s.

2017 Season: Passing 61-103, 665 yards 6 TD’s. Rushing 317 yards 4 TD’s.

Not really known as a dual-threat QB, Vitt took over the game with his legs last week, helping MacArthur pick up their first win.

Previous Rank: 8

9- DJ Bolger - Hyde Park (Senior)

Last Week: Passing 24-33, 301 yards 3 TD’s.

2017 Season: Passing 35-48, 444 yards 5 TD’s. Rushing 1 TD

First time this season Hyde Park has really allowed Bolger to let it rip and he put up big numbers. Some of his most impressive throws come when he’s on the move.

Previous Rank: 10

10- Jojo Weeks - Wimberley (Senior)

Last Week: Passing 19-29, 372 yards 4 TD’s.

2017 Season: Passing 53-82, 1,047 yards 11 TD’s. Rushing 101 yards 1 TD.

Weeks started this year a little bit off the radar but he’s been sensational in the 3 Wimberley wins to start the season. He’s a guy with an opportunity already on the table to play division I college baseball but look out for some late football interest with the numbers he’s putting up.

Previous Rank: Unranked
