  • ODH Coronavirus hotline: 833-4-ASK-ODH (833-427-5634)
  • 88 cases confirmed in Ohio as of March 18
  • Drive-up testing sites opened in Cleveland, Dayton, Columbus and Newark

Lines backed up around the block Monday as police in masks direct traffic outside the crowded Cleveland Clinic and UH drive through testing centers. Drive-up testing sites also opened in other communities including Dayton, Columbus, and Newark.

“Yes, you saw a lot of people in line, and those are people who did have doctors orders, but that is not an indication that tomorrow we’re going to have 500 new cases of COVID in our community,” Said Dr. Heidi Gullett, Medical Director of the Cuyahoga County Board of Health.

Dr. Gullett said the cases of COVID have an age range between 14-86. She encouraged everyone to step up.

"We are all in this together. No one is immune from this. We are either going to be effected by this individually, or through people we know, or through its impact on our community. So it’s critically important that we take this time to be kind to one another, to respect one another, and to really go out of your way to think about what you can do to help somebody else," said Dr. Gullett.

That includes staying home when sick, respect social distancing, and work from home if possible. Dr. Gullett, is keeping a positive outlook, especially when people are rising to the challenge.

"I have seen people rise to the challenge and come together in ways that are absolutely remarkable," said Dr. Gullett, "We know that we will get through this as a community and we know that we will be strengthened on the other side," she said.
